Call for Speakers

English Track!

Speaker applications are closed. Thank you for many applications!

WordCamp Tokyo 2017 will have a dedicated room for English speakers, where the sessions will be translated into Japanese.

Share your knowledge and experience with the Japanese and international audience!

What is WordCamp Tokyo?

WordCamp Tokyo is a community event that brings together bloggers, developers, designers, artists, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and everybody. We want everyone that is interested in WordPress and publishing themselves involved in our community.

What We Expect from Speakers

Talks for all skill levels are welcome.

We do NOT require you to be famous, or an “expert”. If you haven’t spoken at a conference before, let this WordCamp be the first one! All we ask is that you speak passionately and respectfully.

We do have some general guidelines for talks, though, and here they are: Your talk should be…

  • directly related to WordPress, or immediately applicable and relevant to our audience
  • respectful of the WordPress community, the WordCamp code of conduct, and the GPL
  • something that will inspire the audience!

Other Information

  • Talks can be either 15, 30, or 70 minutes in length.
  • We will notify the result of your application by mid-July.
  • We may ask you to join an online meeting to discuss the contents of your session in advance.
  • We do not offer travel or accommodation fee.
  • We will select speakers based upon the presentation details and compliance to the policies mentioned above. The reasons for acceptance or rejection will not be disclosed.
  • We will issue a coupon for a free session ticket to each selected speaker. Rather than buying a ticket and getting it refunded, please wait for our reply. There will be enough seats, so don’t worry! However, you can go ahead and buy your after party and second-day ticket.
  • If you are not yet sure whether you can really travel and come to Tokyo, let us know. It will not affect the selection process, but we just want to learn as much as we can about your situation. This is because we experienced a number of speaker cancellations last year.

If you have any questions about speaking, or if you have trouble accessing or using the talk submission form, please contact us.
